Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
It is my experience that when someone truly feels heard that growth follows. As a LMFT, I work individually, with couples and families who are experiencing difficulties in their primary relationships. I establish rapport by creating a non-judgmental setting wherein clients are able to feel safe and supported in exploring and expressing their innermost feelings in order to create healthier relationships with themselves and others. I have particular experience working with older adolescents transitioning to adulthood as well as with the elderly. Therapy is collaborative and interactive and may be short or long term, depending on specific issues which may include: depression, grief and loss, low self worth, workplace/school issues, stress management, and life cycle transitions. I use a variety of approaches including creativity as a way to access insight and understanding for overcoming obstacles that interfere with attaining personal goals.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
