I am a very seasoned psychotherapist with 20+ years of experience providing therapy to individuals, families, couples, children and groups. I have worked with a wide spectrum of individuals, most labeled with diagnoses that include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders (especially cluster b), anxiety disorders, and adjustment disorders. My passion is to engage in deep psychological work in which the roots of patterns and dysfunctions are uncovered. However, I also recognize the need for solution focused short-term psychotherapy. In addition to my graduate degree in Psychology from University of San Francisco, I have also trained at the Gestalt Institute in San Francisco and the Process Therapy Institute in Los Gatos; I support a holistic approach to therapy. My therapeutic foundation as a Jungian core, which encompasses my belief in things existing in opposites, i.e. shadow and the ego, ying and yang etc.. In my view, the therapeutic relationship provides an environment in which the therapist can begin a compassionate, non-judgmental exploration to aid the individuals in identifying their own inner wisdom and strength. This process enables individuals to make healthy choices that result in an integrated and congruent wholeness. When appropriate, I use Gestalt and Process therapy techniques, CBT and creative expression. In addition, I often incorporate guided imagery, mindfulness and meditation.
I look forward to working with clients from diverse backgrounds and enjoy the process of being a part of someone’s growth and development.
