Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Hello. My name is Alicia Porter and I am a Christian therapist who specializes in helping adult survivors of childhood abuse, neglect and trauma. If you have experienced these things, you need a therapist who is compassionate and understanding. I will provide you with a safe place to heal and grow. I also specialize in helping people who have experienced any kind of loss (including death of a loved one, divorce, break-up) to walk through the grieving process. Grieving is not easy and it can help to have a caring therapist listen to you and validate your feelings and experiences. I also enjoy working with young adults who are in the process of establishing themselves as individuals. Differentiating from your family of origin can be a challenge and I can help you to accomplish that in healthy way. I am a grace-based therapist who will come alongside of you, support you and encourage you on your healing journey. Please feel free to call me at 626-487-6840. I look forward to hearing from you.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
