Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
A holistic approach to well-being, Somatic Psychotherapy includes emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of experience. Whether you are struggling with difficult feelings, trying to heal from the past, or things are OK and you simply want to grow personally, one-on-one sessions with Alissa can guide and support you in having a more fulfilling experience of life. People often say they want to “control” their emotions. What if, instead of controlling or suppressing your emotions, you could come into relationship with them in a way that allows them transform naturally, to release old patterns and unleash the joy and energy that they have been holding back? Investing in your emotional well-being is investing in the quality of your experience of the rest of your life. Learning to live mindfully allows you to respond to ever-changing outer circumstances with more confidence, clarity, and inner peace. In addition to using traditional therapeutic methods, Somatic Psychotherapy recognizes the importance of developing new neural pathways and re-programing the nervous system in order to transform the actual lived experience of emotions on a day-to-day basis. You don’t need any special background or skill to try, just an open mind! Alissa offers a safe and nonjudgmental environment. She can gently guide you in developing compassion, curiosity, mindfulness, and body-awareness. You will develop new neural pathways that allow you to handle emotions and challenging situations more gracefully, cultivate deeper presence, and connect with your inner guidance.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
