Personal Statement:
Alissa Blackman is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, a Certified EMDR therapist, EMDR Consultant-In-training, and Somatic Psychotherapist specializing in integrating body, mind and spirit. Alissa supports clients in recovery from trauma, attachment trauma, anxiety, chronic pain, headaches, and more. She offers a supportive, warm presence so clients can witness themselves anew, transform ingrained patterns, and build new capacities. After working for over a decade as a massage therapist, Alissa studied Counseling Psychology (Somatics) at the California Institute of Integral Studies. She worked extensively with Bill Bowen, training in Psycho-Physical Therapy, taught Somatic Psychology at CIIS and worked in community mental health as a Therapist and Mental Health Educator/Advocate supporting at-risk youth. She is passionate about sharing her body-mind-spirit approach to healing and loves to support clients in discovering (or rediscovering) their strengths and living a more vibrant, joyful life.
