Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Does your life look great on the outside, but feel lonely and sad on the inside? Do you find yourself thinking "I should be happy", but instead you feel stressed and worn out? Do you sometimes blame yourself, and fear the future? I would like to help. You do not have to struggle alone. Sometimes life seems so overwhelming that you cannot think clearly enough to find your own solutions. Finding perspective and taking action appropriate for you with the assistance of a therapist can seem so natural that you will wonder why you waited so long. As your therapist, I will be there to listen, respond, and assist you in your journey to making positive changes in your life. Whether your problem is a distressed relationship, or about your relationship with yourself, therapy can provide a safe, confidential environment to help you recognize solutions that you may not have been able to see on your own. Happiness in not a destination, but a way of traveling....

Featured Therapist

Kelly Duggan Shearer, M.A.
Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
