Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I work well with many different people, and I have a knack for working with “out of the box” folks. The main focus of my practice is helping people who are overwhelmed – by traumatic events, or simply when life, feelings or relationships get to be “too much”. This can show up as PTSD, anxiety, depression, low motivation, panic attacks, substance abuse, eating disorders, and other issues. I help people learn how to become grounded, find the positive and work through things at a manageable pace. Therapy should also be fund at least some of the time; I help people find and practice a little playfulness, or whatever lights them up inside. I’m a Certifed Practitioner of Somatic Experiencing, a method of trauma healing developed by Dr. Peter Levine. Clients choosing to use this method learn to not only pay attention to their thoughts and emotions, but also their body sensations, movement impulses, and other indicators of their nervous system. It has been my experience that including the body in psychotherapy greatly increases the efficiency of therapy as well as client satisfaction.
