Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
In a supportive and confidential environment, I provide skillful and compassionate counseling services to individuals ( 18 years and older) , couples and families. My clinical areas of emphasis are: trauma and loss (PTSD, grief/bereavement and many other types of loss) as well as mood disorders (depression/bipolar disorders). Additionally, I work with clients experiencing a wide range of crisis issues and life transitions such as anxiety, abuse, chronic illness, marriage/divorce, parenting, relocation, and aging issues. Some of the treatment modalities that I use include cognitive-behavioral therapy; family systems therapy; and solution focused therapy. Additionally I have advanced trauma training in the following areas: Disaster Mental Health, Crisis Intervention, Suicide Prevention Intervention and EMDR. It is my belief that the therapeutic relationship needs to be a collaborative effort between the counselor and the client. Through our collaborative effort, I will assist in empowering you to work through your issues of concern by means of a warm, nonjudgmental and motivational approach to therapy. I believe this approach is most effective in meeting your needs and goals.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
