Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Welcome. I am a psychotherapist, psychoanalyst and consultant who sees individuals and couples for concerns related to anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and work-related topics. In the first visit or two, I will work with you to understand what type of therapy you are seeking based on the concerns that emerge. You can expect that the work will be insight-oriented, aimed at understanding the causes and effects as well as the dynamics of behavior. Emotional struggles often involve conflicting feelings especially when trying to understand complex life issues. In couples’ work for example, past patterns of relating in families can re-emerge and challenge a couples’ relationship particularly during life transitions. Having a consultant can be particularly helpful in establishing new approaches.

My post-license (MFT) training includes an analytic certificate and a doctorate of psychology in psychoanalysis. I welcome your inquiries by phone: 650.917.9650 or visit my site: www.as.lospsy.com.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
