Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Therapy can open new doors, make room for greater connection with others and help you understand what is getting in the way of having a more satisfying life. As Lawrence Fixel, a San Francisco poet put it: “Choice Plus Chance = Change.” With 28 years experience doing individual, couples and group therapy, with adults, I encourage clients to discover what they want from their important relationships and how to express those needs effectively. This kind of work usually increases self-confidence, self-esteem and satisfaction with life choices. I specialize in work with: life transition issues, chronic medical illness, and couples issues. I value highly the concept of lovingkindness and encourage clients to discover the gift of compassion for themselves as well as others. BACKGROUND: I served as an Associate Clinical Professor, University of California Medical School, San Francisco, for 14 years, am a Board Member and Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, Faculty Member of The Psychotherapy Institute, and was president of the Northern California Group Psychotherapy Society. As my website shows, I believe deeply in the healing power of the wide range of therapy groups. For useful information and downloadable articles please visit

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Carlsbad, CA

I provide a therapeutic environment that allows individuals and couples to explore ideas, beliefs, life experiences, thoughts and feelings that may stand in the way of being who you truly want to be. I can help point out repeating dysfunctional patterns that may exsist in relationships at home, at work and with friends and family.I teach people how to respond in their lives versus getting caught in reacting to personalities and events.
