Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My orientation in Jungian depth Psychology uses mythology, imagination, dream tending, and deep listening. I also use the tools of cognitive-behavioral brief therapy when appropriate and ethical. Women's issues have been important in my life and practice. I encourage the storytelling of women's lives and experience in the world. Although socialized to be "other" directed, when women focus on the interiority of self, awareness and self knowledge happen. Discovering the light and shadow in stories and women's dreams helps creatively resolve issues of loss, grief, depression, and the anxiety that accompanies renewal. Essential to the empowerment of women is that the quest for self- knowledge be accompanied by self- acceptance. My interpersonal style is informal, relaxed, humorous, non-judgmental and oriented towards self-acceptance and self-knowledge.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
