Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I believe that people have within them the means to grow and heal through any life situation. Sometimes the way to this means is blocked, but with care and attention, the way to healing can be found. I work with individuals and families to help them reconnect with each other and with the creativity that is essential in each of us.

I specialize in work with families who are struggling with parenting issues, with adolescents and children who are having problems with peers, school and home life, and with people of all ages who have experienced trauma and abuse. I also work with adults who want to get back in touch with their creativity through art and dream work. No art experience needed!

Art therapy can be a very helpful means for connection, growth and self-expression for adults as well as children and teenagers. Dream work can also reconnect us to inner sources of creative health and renewal. In addition to these modalities I use evidence-based psychotherapies for shorter-term treatments.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
