Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I help families create more joy, love, and harmony in their homes. I work collaboratively with couples to improve their relationship and to create a more solid foundation for children. I have a passion for supporting pregnant women and new mothers to help them transition into motherhood and start their new journey as a parent. I work with divorced and single parents to create healthy parenting and co-parenting relationships. I work with children and adolescents when they are having academic, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges. I work with college age individuals to help them with self exploration and to clarify their career goals. I have been a school counselor for 10 years helping children, adolescents, and their families with various issues pertaining to school and home life. I offer play therapy for the younger child, and I am also a trained Expressive Arts Therapist employing creative techniques in my work with adolescents and adults. I am a trained Triple P Positive Parenting facilitator and I coach parents as well as offering seminars on parenting. I offer Girls Circle groups that support teenage girls to improve self esteem, and create healthy goals and boundaries for themselves. I also offer single mother's support groups.

About My Practice

Office Hours
Tuesdays 3:30-8:30 Wednesdays 3:00-8:00 Thursdays 9:00-1:00
I offer individual, couples, family, child, adolescent, and group therapy. I am a licensed Psychotherapist who also has extensive training in the Expressive Arts. I use the expressive arts in my practice to allow my clients to explore their issues through a creative lens. This form of exploration and collaboration opens doors and brings clarity to what may have felt like a stuck situation. There is no need for any artistic training as I am never focused on the product. It is always the process that creates healing and change. Some of the modalities that I use are the visual arts, drama, dance/movement, sandtray, music, dream work, and guided imagery. Through creativity we access the left brain to understand what is happening in a new way, and find new solutions to old problems. That being said my work is client centered and I follow the lead of my client's comfort level with the arts. Some clients delve right into the process and feel very comfortable using the arts. Others are more comfortable talking primarily, and at times may explore issues through whatever creative outlet they are comfortable with. In my practice I work with clients of all ages and cultural backgrounds. I love having a diverse practice because it allows me to work with people from many different walks of life full of rich and varied experiences. I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues and provide services that span from therapy for couples, to child therapy, parenting support, and beyond. In a safe, comfortable, and very supportive atmosphere I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to my client's individual needs supporting them to attain the personal growth they are seeking.
