Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been working as a Marriage and Family/Art Therapist for 14 years. In my private practice I address diagnosis and treatment of a range of childhood issues, how these affect parenting, marital, and sibling relationships. During this process, interfacing with teachers and other involved professionals are part of my approach. My work with children includes both individual and group work addressing social interactions and emotional expression.

I also enjoy working with adults addressing a range of emotional and relationship issues. While treatment is always tailored to individual needs and diagnostic criteria, I find that a combination of art/play therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is effective with children and families. My adult clients have also benefited from both psycho dynamically oriented verbal therapy, art therapy and respond positively to supportive and solution oriented treatment.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
