Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Children and teens have an incredible amount of potential. At the same time they are faced with a good amount of "turbulence" and hardship as they experience growing up for the first time. This experience can be further complicated by unexpected losses, changes in family structure, or any number of other life lessons confronting young people throughout childhood. Understanding and respecting both the basic developmental needs and the unique individual experiences of each child is at the center of my practice. With professional experiences in school, community, and private practice settings, I find that children have an endless ability to heal and grow through a safe and supportive relationship. I employ basic conversation, creative activities, and relationship-building to help young people. Gameplay, skill-building, and role-playing are all typical approaches when helping children communicate better with themselves and others.

Through the awareness continuum and other techniques, I help interested participants develop a stronger sense of themselves and their surroundings, and most importantly, how they get in the way of life’s natural rhythm and flow. My clients invariably grow a deeper acceptance of who they are and thereby become freer to express their authentic selves in accordance with the requirements of the moment.
