Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My therapeutic approach is one of in-depth psychodynamic psychotherapy, utilizing art therapy when applicable, as a means of accessing a client’s core issues. Art Therapy is a specialized form of treatment in which clients create artwork that is used to discover untapped inner resources, and provide a bridge from the unconscious to the conscious. By incorporating a structured art process that is specifically designed to explore a wide range of problems and concerns, clients are able to gain insights that contain the keys to struggle, conflict, inspiration, and hope. The art is created either during the sessions or at home, and becomes an integral part of the treatment. The emotions that arise form the art work are explored verbally, and form the foundation of the therapeutic process. I employ a wide range of artistic media, and previous art experience is unnecessary.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
