Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Sherman Oaks, California. In my practice, I focus on individuals, couples and families with particular emphasis on living a life with purpose and meaning and developing personal relationships with deeper connections. Some people come to therapy suffering personal or relationship conflict; some struggle with deep-rooted pain or loss; others are searching for meaning. Many are struggling with transitions of life, with reinventing themselves to meet the challenges of the day. From new marriage/relationships, the birth of children, children launching, and blended families, to sometimes imposed career and life changes, and understanding and ultimately accepting the process of aging. Change is inevitable. Change happens whether we're ready for it or not. And sometimes that can upset our otherwise positive ability to work through it and carry on. In therapy, it becomes our job, then, to identify and even mourn for what is lost, to create solutions and alternative narratives, and ultimately, to embrace a new road... to work toward allowing that inevitable change to transform what is into what could be. Therapy is a journey that can help to chart the way through and forward by honoring the process and supporting movement forward toward healing and balance. Therapy seeks to help you move beyond the stuckness, beyond the pain, beyond the struggle. Even beyond the resistance. It is a unique opportunity to discover and explore old life narratives that once served a purpose and begin to consciously create new stories that lead to... living your whole life. I work with adults, adolescents, children, and families who struggle with a wide range of issues, including relationship conflict, pre-marital counseling, the unique complications of divorce and blended families, parenting struggles, issues of aging and life transitions, substance and eating disorders, body image distortions, persistent depression and anxiety, grief and loss, economic and career challenges, and issues of spirituality.
