Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Welcome to my counseling and psychotherapy practice in Redding, CA. I have worked in the field of integrative therapies for over 30 years and I am delighted that with each passing year we have more and more awareness of the profound interconnections between our minds, our bodies and our feelings. My personal style is dynamic and interactive; therapy is definitely a co-creative relationship. With a background and specialized training in many therapeutic orientations, I incorporate whichever approaches are most helpful for the goals and needs of each client. Of particular interest to me is recent work in neurobiology. This fast growing science is giving us new understandings that complement, and often reinforce, what we have learned from psychodynamic theory and the world's wisdom traditions. Brain science also brings with it new therapeutic tools to work with difficult states such as anxiety, depression and addictive behaviors, or conflict and discouragement in our relationships. These tools assist us, often more quickly and skillfully than traditional therapies alone, in working with our psychological and physical distress. If this approach sounds interesting to you, please visit my website or give me a call and we will explore your concerns together.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
