Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Though my early focus was on adolescents, I now primarily specialize in relationship issues (communication, identity, stress management, relationship enhancement, or any interactional problems). I believe in preventive therapy and will work flexibly with any people wanting to educate themselves prior to marriage, children, or other life changes. I have flexible hours, have been in full-time private practice in Canyon Country since 1981, and am accessible by phone between sessions. I am unbiased and nonjudgmental, comfortable working with people from all ethnic, religious, or sexual orientations. I am respectful of your guidelines and will help you to accomplish your mutually agreed upon objectives. Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
