Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am passionate about helping my clients feel hopeful again. While the struggles we human beings face are many and varied, often accompanied by great emotional suffering, I believe most are rooted in unsatisfactory relationships – with a marriage partner, family members, coworkers, God, or self. Therefore, my counseling practice focuses on helping clients resolve relationship difficulties, especially in the most personal arenas of marriage, parenting, and family life. My clinical style is patient, collaborative and client-centered. I will take the time to listen and understand your distress, as well as what you hope to change through counseling. We will then work together to meet your goals. As a first-generation immigrant who arrived in America in my teen years, I am fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese. I have personally experienced many of the common challenges immigrant families face, including cultural adjustments and inter-generational conflicts. Having worked 20 years in the technology industry, I am also well aware of the stress and difficulties associated with balancing one’s professional, personal and family lives. I believe my life experiences and professional training have shaped me into an empathetic and solution-oriented therapist, and I hope to get a chance to work with you.
