Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been in private practice since 2002. Most of my work is with clients who have issues of depression, anxiety, emotional eating, childhood sexual abuse, and grief - all of which affect their ability to have healthy relationships with friends and family. Many of my clients are of the Christian faith, and I enjoy working with them as they apply their beliefs to the challenges they are facing in their lives. I address family of origin and other issues from the past, because I believe that people need to heal from those things and grieve the losses around those issues. Ultimately I help clients break free of those "old tapes" that keep them chained to the pain of the past so that they can begin to experience a greater degree of satisfaction with life.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
