Personal Statement:
For more than 20 years, Brian Carey has been employed by the Disabled Student Services Office at California State University Long Beach (CSULB). First as a counselor with the Stephen Benson Program in 1990; later as a computer technician for our High Tech Computer Access Center. From 1993 to 2005, Brian functioned as the Learning Disability Specialist for the Stephen Benson Program at CSULB and finally settled in as our Program Coordinator during the fall semester of 2005. Brian was educated at our campus, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Psychology in 1986 and continuing on to complete a Master of Science degree in Counseling in 1992. He currently holds a California license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) and maintains a California credential as a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Professional. Brian specializes in the assessment of adults with learning disabilities at the college level and has worked in private practice with a specialization in counseling children and adults with Attention Deficit Disorders.
