Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Are you adjusting to a loss? Questioning your ability to survive a loss? Wondering if you have the energy or desire to adapt to or heal from a loss? Uncertain that you will ever experience joy again? These are examples of normal responses to a significant loss. Experiencing loss is a difficult life challenge and can be devastating at times. Your grieving process may involve multiple symptoms such as: headaches, stomach aches, exhaustion or low energy, anxiety, guilt, confusion, anger, resentment, endless crying, shame, difficulty focusing, problems with eating or sleeping, hopelessness, fear, loneliness, or questioning your faith or beliefs. Everyone experiences loss differently. Significant losses can include the death or serious illness of a loved one, death of a pet, the loss of a close friend or relationship breakup, divorce, job loss, the loss of health, loss of physical ability, or the letting go of a long-held dream. I offer compassionate support and practical strategies aimed at reducing your symptoms and strengthening your ability to cope with your loss. Your unique needs and goals will determine the strategies we will explore together, such as dialogue, expressive arts, guided relaxation, stress reduction, sand tray, or play therapy for children.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
