Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
If you are suffering from traumatic life events, painful memories, anxiety, fears, or feeling stuck, allow me to help. I will work quickly and efficiently to teach individualized skills such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that help you control unwanted thoughts and fears. Using EMDR therapy, I assist my clients to process the root causes of their problems, enabling permanent resolution of painful memories, traumas and phobias. I am direct and solution focused, using up to date evidence based psychotherapy, within a warm, compassionate and nurturing therapeutic environment. I proudly serve the LGBTQ+ community to experience healing and transformation. I specialize in EMDR and CBT, the most proven treatments for traumatic memories, life patterns and anxiety. I also offer Mindfulness approaches, Sand Tray Therapy and Expressive Arts. I offer Play therapy and Family Therapy in my Berkeley office. I am currently accepting new clients in my office in San Francisco's Flood Building. I am available from 7am until 1pm on Thursdays for private pay clients only. If you need to use your insurance, please contact me regarding weekend sessions in Berkeley or Telehealth services weekdays 7-9pm.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
