Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My passion is to help people recover from depression, anxiety, grief and trauma, identity confusion, addiction, and codependency. My approach is focused on both increasing awareness & empowering you to action. I also love to coach couples on having a healthy, intimate relationship by developing an understanding of different perspectives, connecting deeply with each other, and learning skills of effective communication. My background in IT/Management Consulting and Non-profit industries enables me to coach people in dealing more effectively with a broad range of work/life issues typical of today's fast-path life style. We'll look at how your life experiences have informed your sense of self, others & relationships, and work on goals of changing ineffective perspectives and behaviors. I am comfortable with integrating spiritual/cultural strategies into the counseling process as you desire. I am bilingual in English and Mandarin. I enjoy working with clients to resolve multicultural family relationship difficulties, parenting issues, and overcome generational/cultural differences.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
