Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a licensed therapist with a wide range of experiences with children, adolescents, families and individuals. I have many years experience working with trauma and greif and loss as well as personal experience with these issues. I will provide the space to safely discuss fears, vulnerabilities and concerns for example, regarding life transitions, events, and circumstances that may be impacting physical, emotional and mental health. Overwhelming stress, frustration and/or anger can be reduced in an environment that is nonjudgmental, respectful and nurturing. We all feel lost and alone at times. Through exchanges and increased insight into your individual strengths and unique talents, alternative positive, healthy solutions to problematic issues and unhealthy ways of relating and behaving will surface. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral, family systems theory and object relations theory. and existential.I am interested in individual, young adults and adults and groups. I utilize expressive art therapies as a healing modality, if appropriate. I am also an Art Therapist and Educator.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
