Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Often we become accustomed to going through our lives feeling OK, but not great. We may have become accustomed to tolerating a fair amount of unhappiness on an ongoing basis. Do the things that bother us in everyday life need to bother us? Is there a perspective we’re unconsciously stuck with that makes everything harder? I’ve found that there is a fierce thread in many individuals, which operates in their lives as a masked form of self-hatred. Self-hatred, overt or covert, makes life unnecessarily difficult. It undermines the very foundation of all of our life experiences and it is always based on falsehoods. I work collaboratively with clients to bring a greater sense of ease and mastery to life. My focus includes substance abuse and addiction, domestic violence, verbally abusive relationships, women’s empowerment, depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, EMDR, and Buddhist perspectives.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
