Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My most important job as a therapist is to listen so that I can understand you in your fullest context: your family, your culture, your world. As I listen and ask questions together we develop a complex understanding of all the forces affecting you and your situation. Together we can look for new possibilities that can help you make shifts in your relationship with the problems besetting you. Sometimes only a small shift is necessary to start a "snowball effect" that can eventually lead to to solid change. I may offer ideas from psychology or my own experience in hopes they may have meaning for you, but I will always hold you as the ultimate authority on your experience, including what is or isn't helpful. My experience includes working with those struggling with depression, anxiety, adjusting to life transitions and dealing with loss of all kinds.
