Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Cathy Dore', LMFT specializes in women's mental health, particularly around issues pertaining to pregnancy and birth. She serves as the Marketing & Public Relations Chair for Postpartum Support International, and is a current member of the Los Angeles Perinatal Mental Health Task Force. She is a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She is the co-founder of The Motherhood Consortium, an inclusive community of professionals who meet monthly and all have the common goal of providing care and nurturing for mothers, families and their babies either through education, enrichment or social/emotional support.

I specialize in women's mental health, with an emphasis on the developmental stage between 20 and 30 years old and the transitional time during women's reproductive years -- between 30 and 50 years old. Much of my practice focuses is the assessment and treatment of Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders. I also deal with other pregnancy and birth related concerns like infertility and pregnancy loss.

I also have experience with multiple births and the unique perspective that comes with parenting both singleton children along with their twin siblings.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
