I specialize in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. This model provides a different way of thinking about problems; i.e., solution building, rather than problem solving. I have found it to be helpful in working with couples, individuals, adolescents and children. Solution focused language increases the effectiveness of communication and supports self esteem. It facilitates immediate change in how people communicate and work with each other, and provides tools that can be used after the first session to make a measurable difference in relationships.
I have over twenty years experience working with couples in marital and premarital counseling. I currently offer a "Brief Focus" package, using the FOCCUS Inventory For Marriage Preparation.
I also work with couples to strengthen their co-parenting skills, including applying a collaborative plan to deal with behavioral problems. Restructuring and maintaining a positive working relationship is essential for parents who are separated or divorced, and for those who are blending families. A solution focused framework supports these goals.
