Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a Marriage and Family Therapist I believe that everyone has within himself or herself the innate capacity to heal, develop, and grow. I provide clients with a safe confidential space in which to explore and develop a deeper understanding of their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Through a trusting relationship, we can work collaboratively to identify inner conflicts, clarify beliefs, and release limiting patterns to support you in living a more authentic and fulfilling life. I use a variety of theoretical approaches that is specific to your needs. The initial goal is to address the immediate crisis, relieve symptoms, promote personal growth and create lasting change. The process of therapy will help you make new choices and be more skillful in reflecting your best interests and intentions. My style is warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative. I bring both heart and intellect to my work as I listen, reflect upon, and respond to my clients.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
