Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I began counseling in 1990. I work with adults, youth and children. I work with blended families, marital issues and all relationship concerns. I began a Christian Counseling Center in El Cajon, CA in 1998 and helped to train 40 therapists during a ten year period of time. I have taught psychology at the college level for ten years before beginning my doctoral work.

During my doctoral training I began to work with the La Mesa Police Department as a PERT (Psychiatric Emergency Response Team) clinician part-time while continuing to counsel and train therapists. I work with the TERM (Treatment Evaluation Resources Management) Team as a referral for Child Protective Services in the reuniting of families where abuse or neglect has taken place. I have been trained by Project Safe Start with the County of San Diego to work with children who have witnessed domestic violence in the home. This training was one year in length learning Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am certified to receive County of San Diego Funds as a Medi-Cal practitioner for children.

I am now in private practice in the city of La Mesa, CA.
