Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Succumbing, surviving or surpassing? Life often surprises us with unwanted obstacles that challenge us to improve upon all of the skills that we have acquired thus far. Marriage, divorce, children, illness, loss, aging, accidents, death-all change lives in ways that are unexpected and often troubling. The results can be conflict and stress in relationships, struggles on the job, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

I support clients in healing from the challenges, losses, and trauma that they have suffered. With her empathic support, clients begin to construct changed meanings and directions for their lives. Gathering new resources for the days ahead, they have the opportunity to experience greater satisfaction with themselves and their lives. For over six years, I have worked with active duty service member, their families, and civilian employees on military bases in the U.S., Europe, and the Pacific as a Military and Family Life Consultant/Counselor. This experience gives me a strong background in the challenges facing our armed forces. I have great respect for how these folk have served our country and feel honored to continue to work with them in private practice.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
