Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
In my private practice in West Los Angeles, I help individuals, couples and families heal traumas, solve conflicts, and create more fulfilling lives and relationships. I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and additional training in many practices, with special emphasis on parenting, dreamwork, and family therapy. I prefer to explore multiple layers of human experience from soul to ego to family to community to society to history, using a range of theoretical lenses. An African American, I have collaborated therapeutically with people from a wide range of ethnic groups and national origins including Armenian, Cambodian, Indian, Persian, Native American, Mexican American, Jewish, European, and African American. As a writer and former filmmaker, I am especially interested in issues of creativity and in the way creativity, once unleashed, can transform the very act of living for people who do not think of themselves as artists.

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
