Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
The challenges of growing up in today's rapidly changing society are enormous. Children and adolescents need to be equipped with skills for survival and growth that were never before imagined. Some of the more common issues I help my young clients with include: anxiety, depression, suicide ideation, phobias, perfectionism, self confidence, body image issues, challenging peer relationships, learning disabilities, social anxiety and awkwardness, difficult family dynamics, divorcing parents and step family transitions. I also work with parents offering them guidance and support. I provide a warm, non-judgmental setting in which my young clients can begin to understand their environments and see themselves and others more clearly, try on new ways of thinking and behaving, explore change, identify both positive and negative patterns as they arise and make thoughtful choices accordingly. In addition to seeing clients individually, I also lead social skills group..

Are you stressed out? Do you sometimes find yourself snapping at your children? Would you describe your relationship with your husband as “distant”? Or do you feel like you are going to lose it if someone doesn’t give you a break? Being a mother, wife, or daughter can stretch us to our limits. During times like these it can feel like the world has been turned “upside down”. There is HOPE! You don’t have to figure this out alone. Let’s talk and see if I can help you make things “right side up” again.
