Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I will be present with you on your journey – to provide space for you to define and achieve your goals. I believe that relationships are one of the basic components of our life experience, be they relationships between parents and children, between spouses or partners, or between friends and coworkers. Insofar as you feel it is important, our work together can involve your experiences in these relationships in your life. I provide individual and couples therapy. I provide psychotherapy in English or Spanish, and am a provider for most insurance plans. Clients come to see me with various goals, including: stress management, personal growth, addressing attachment problems, parenting growth, depression and mood issues, recovery from posttraumatic stress, recovery from grief, improvements in family communication, relationship themes, issues of diversity, victims issues, and addiction recovery. I am trained in models of brief therapy as well as insight oriented techniques for therapy of longer duration. Family systems, object relations and cognitive behavioral theoretical approaches are integrated into my work. I have advanced training in Dyadic Developmental Therapy (attachment). I am an "Advanced" level practictioner in Emotion Focused Therapy, an attachment based couples therapy. I am an EMDR Therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and am "EMDR Certified".

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
