Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Grounded in a gay-centered synthesis of psychoanalytic, Jungian, and Gestalt theoretical orientations, and with a view of how oppressive societal and familial stressors deterimentally affect the sensitive individual, gay and non-gay, I actively help persons seeking treatment to confront their internal blocks to alchemize childhood trauma and toxic shame into the fullest liberation of their finest human potential. My particular interest in gay identity issues, feminism and the empowerment of people of color informs my 18-year-long professional history, which includes writing articles, conducting workshops and providing monthly talks on the subject of "gay soul making." My theraputic practice has entailed helping clients develop a more emobdied and differentiated feeling life, dream life, and imagination, thus leading individuals to a new-found capacity to more effectively relate with others, find love and self-acceptance, and ultimately become initiiated into the inner world of the self-realizing psyche.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Carlsbad, CA

I provide a therapeutic environment that allows individuals and couples to explore ideas, beliefs, life experiences, thoughts and feelings that may stand in the way of being who you truly want to be. I can help point out repeating dysfunctional patterns that may exsist in relationships at home, at work and with friends and family.I teach people how to respond in their lives versus getting caught in reacting to personalities and events.
