Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I believe that the ultimate goal for therapy is “to heal” which means, “to make whole.” Jung called it “the process of individuation.” My way to work is quite simple. I like to start with what is present and experienced as a challenge. Then, as the story unfolds, I look for patterns, themes, in a person's life that potentially influences a person's thinking, behaviors and beliefs about self, others and/or life.My ten years of clinical experience have taught me to trust the meandering of the psyche; I see therapy as a dialogue around meaning and intentionality of the Soul whether I am using EMDR, expressive arts or dream work. I know that psyche knows where one needs to go, one just needs to attend to the image, to the untold story, to the unexpressed emotions in search for cohesion among contradictory aspect of experience. Most often one just needs to befriend or relate differently to uncomfortable or unlived parts of one self in order to become more whole. Symptoms are often an expression of the suffering of the soul. Hopefully, through the foundation work, we succeed to establish enough trust and connection that allows the work of attending to the "blind spots"and responses that no longer works. To facilitate the process of change, I borrow from cognitive-behavioral methods, expressive arts as well as trauma-related approach such as EMDR. In recovering one's own personal authority, one finds what is true to oneself and find the resources and courage to put it into actions. In my experience, finding one's own compass triggers an internal, psychic engagement with life, a source of growth and healing. I can translate the therapeutic process into a clinical framework with treatment plan fit to a diagnosis, fulfilling the requirements of the therapeutic process and of the insurances.
