Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Can painful life challenges be transformed into healing opportunities? Is it possible to live with increased purpose and meaning after a major loss? Will you be strengthened in ways you never knew possible by facing your fears? Since you are now seeking therapy, something inside of you must already trust that the answer to these questions is-YES! You may think therapy is simply about solving problems or healing emotional wounds; but the process is about so much more. It is about expressing more freely who you truly are. It is about reclaiming your inner strengths, skills and wisdom. And it is about finding practical, yet creative ways to achieve your life goals. As a therapist & wellness coach of 16 years, I am experienced in working with a wide range of personal growth issues, with specialization in: HIV/AIDS: Newly Diagnosed & Long Term Survivors. Addictions: Maintenance Phase (1+ years of recovery). LGBT Issues: Coming Out, Identity/Empowerment, Adoption. Life-Transitions: Grief, Mid-Life Awakening, Bucket List Completion. Since I do not accept insurance I do offer a reduced rate of $85 per session to help make ongoing therapy more affordable for your growth/healing needs.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
