Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
For over 25 years I have been practicing Marriage, Family Therapy with individuals and couples. I use the treatment modality I think will match the client’s personality and the challenges the person is presenting. My goal is to empower the client to find their way to health through increased awareness and cognitive/ behavioral changes. Although I use numerous approaches to work with clients, my primary therapeutic approaches are: Process Therapy, Somatic Experiencing Therapy (works with the body/mind connection to release trauma, and Cognitive/ Behavioral Therapy. The types of issues I usually see clients for are: anxiety, depression, marital issues and pre-marital counseling, the menopause transitions, adult survivors of physical and sexual abuse, adult children of alcoholics, co-dependency, post-traumatic stress reactions, coping with illness, stress-reduction, transitions, grief, death and dying.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
