Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
No matter how depressed, anxious, or weighed down by problems you may be, psychotherapy can help! You can gain clarity about your life. I have helped many clients over the years craft happier, more fulfilling lives! My style as a therapist is supportive, compassionate, honest and at times, direct. Though I may give advice, but don't expect you to take it! I respect your autonomy: you are the authority on your own life. In these stressful economic times, clients ask, "How long does it take?" Depending on the your history, anywhere from 8 weeks to 2 years. With couples, the average length of time is between 9 months and 2 years. I have infinite patience, I can try to help you have more patience with yourself, too. I enjoy working with businessmen and women, computer scientists, academics, writers and young adults who feel lost in the "real world". And just plain befuddled parents, in other words, people whose life experience reflects my own! To make an appointment, please call and leave your name, number and a good time to reach you. If you prefer, write to me at cpeikoff@gmail.com. Usually I respond within 12 hours.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
