Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Counseling provides a safe supportive environment to gain insight and awareness, to learn new resources and tools and to create opportunities for positive growth and change. I use a variety of techniques, theories, and experience to help clients reach their goals. I recognize the benefit in acknowledging and reinforcing each individual's strengths and resources. My goal as a therapist is to shift destructive patterns and improve levels of functioning, leading to a higher quality of life. My 15 years of experience, ongoing training and professional support, my love of the work that I do and my belief in the healing process all contribute to my success as a therapist. I have worked in private practice for the last six years primarily with adults, teens and couples. I am trained in and use EMDR and Lifespan Integration, effective ways of helping individuals overcome self-defeating beliefs, integrate trauma and enhance performance.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
