Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I use an interpersonal, psychodynamic approach to facilitate individuals in discovering and honoring their desires, and recognize what stops them from moving forward. I see this as a process of relaxing into, and embracing, the profundity of their development throughout their life. There are many factors that stop us from moving forward including trauma, guilt, grief – all of which can be disguised as symptoms such as anger, depression and anxiety. I encourage a nonjudgmental attitude of curiosity and respect as we begin to examine emotional responses and problematic behavior patterns exploring the circumstances out of which they arose. Gradually, the disruptive and overwhelming emotions can be worked through and integrated. I have profound respect for individuals who undergo this process, as it requires courage and a willingness to challenge one’s core beliefs about themselves and the world.
