Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
“Thank you for making me feel human.” -- Complimentary quote from a person I worked with.

I have been working with people in different counseling contexts since 1999, and earned my MFT license in January, 2007. I’ve worked with younger people, older people, individuals, couples, and families. MFC44173 I especially like Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication model as a map for exploring relationships and communication, but I’m open to how therapy can take different forms. Sometimes it’s about exploring what’s true for you, coming to see reality as it is, and finding ways to be more at peace. Sometimes it’s finding ways to identify and express your thoughts and feelings, and practicing new ways of relating to yourself and others. I believe that therapy is anything that’s therapeutic for you, whether it’s gardening, walking outside, making art, or laughing. MFC44173 Feel free to call me at 415.717.0918 to see if we can create something together that will be helpful to you.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
