Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a licensed therapist based in San Francisco, I work with individuals and couples to dive beneath surface-level issues to discover underlying causes of distress. This journey into the depths can increase self-awareness and lead to a more enjoyable life. Much of my work involves people who are in the grips of anxiety, depression, addiction, or relationship challenges. Many of the people who choose to work with me are highly motivated professionals that are self-reliant and achievement-focused, but often struggle with self-defeating thoughts and patterns that keep them feeling stuck. I have a unique ability to work with challenges related to men's issues, trauma, life transitions, spiritual development, and the LGBTQ community. It is an honor to work with a diverse population of individuals who identify in a variety of ways related to age, gender, race, sexuality, and religion. I'm inspired by psychoanalytic theory, Jungian psychology, and a psycho-spiritual perspective of human development as it relates to the embodiment of the soul. My life and work are guided by my extensive travels and immersion in the insight traditions of Asia and native wisdom traditions of the America's.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
