Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have worked as a marriage and family therapist for over 20 years and I enjoy helping individuals, couples, and families resolve their difficulties. My approach to counseling is solution-based and builds on the strengths of each individual or family. I find that helping people gain an understanding of their own personal history and giving them tools to deal with current situations is the most effective way to bring about positive change. In addition to dealing with problems such as depression, anxiety, and communication difficulties, my specialties include working with children from age 3 to adolescence and teaching parenting skills. I also specialize in Christian counseling for those who wish to combine a faith-based perspective with professional counseling. Another area of particular interest and expertise is working with issues of bereavement, grief and loss with both children and adults.
