Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
How well do you know your teen? Is your child okay? Does your child need help navigating through your divorce? Are you a Christian parent struggling with your child's behavior? These are all questions I would be able to help you answer.

I have worked in the corporate world for more than 20 years and am now focusing my attention on our youth. I received my Master of Science degree in Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles. I also have a California state license as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I prefer to work with children who are facing the difficult challenges of attachment, parental divorce/relations, peer relationships, self-esteem, communication and depression. I enjoy helping children and their families work through the development issues of growing up and functioning within the family system. I work from a Christian perspective and consider a spiritual base fundamental to explore the challenging issues facing the child and the family.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
