Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I offer a warm, honest partnership for anyone who is struggling emotionally. People come in feeling alone in some way: overwhelmed, unfulfilled, blocked creatively or convinced that everyone else in the world is different from them. Maybe you are grieving the break-up of a relationship, marriage, or a loved-one's death. Feeling alone in your pain is often the worst part. I jump in to the struggle wholeheartedly, offering myself as a partner in your process. I bring caring, curiosity and a gentle kind of directness. I want to help you get what you came to therapy for: another perspective in the room, new insight, and the possibility of real change. In addition to working with adults, I also see families, couples, children and teens. I specialize in working with creative people who are either so blocked that they can't practice their craft, or on the other extreme, are so immersed in their work that their life is out of balance and their relationships suffer. I can help people simplify their creative process, and quiet the voices inside them that get in the way. We can explore the fear of failing, fear of succeeding, fear of having a voice, fear of not being important, or fear of losing the genius inside them if they get healthy. I have a pragmatic, grounded approach to people's day-to-day situations, while also drawing on my training in Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic therapy to create space for more lasting change. I can be reached any time to schedule an initial consultation to discuss any questions you might have about the therapy process.
