Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I believe living a successful life is a powerful process, full of transitions and complex challenges. In order to navigate these challenges successfully, many of us need support or guidance at some time in our lives. I focus on helping children, adults and families by identifying areas of strength, and using these strengths to explore new perspectives in life. As a humanistic and cognitive behavioral counselor, my first goal is to create a safe environment for my clients to explore personal needs. By allowing your voice to be honored in a time of crisis, life's transitions can be navigated more easily. When counseling children and teens, using play therapy and expressive art therapy helps establish a safe environment. Once a child feels safe, he or she can start to identify and experience difficult emotions. Through the process of play therapy, children start to heal from fears or trauma.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
