Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been licensed as an MFT since 1986 and in the field for over 30 years. I work primarily with individuals (22 yo & up) and couples, as well as work with parents of teenagers, young adults & adults. I have a great deal of experience & specialized training in working with relationship issues including parenting and family of origin issues. I am very practical in my approach, and I will “talk back” to clients! When clients are interested, I introduce them to the Enneagram, a powerful personality typology that is extremely useful & can help clients quickly identify their patterns and how to work with them as well as deepen levels of self-acceptance, and understanding of others. My roles as a therapist includes deep listening, bearing witness, guidance, feedback, and gentle encouragement in the direction of self-awareness. I believe that a good dose of humor aids in change, but ultimately my clients create change at their own pace. My hope is that my clients find ways to become more fully who they are, taking full responsibility for their lives and creating positive relationships both personally and professionally.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

If you are thinking about therapy, let me first commend you. I know it can be hard to think about sharing your problems with someone else. But something I have learned by working in this field and from my life is that problems are to be shared. We are all in this together. I try to take a balanced approach in therapy between acceptance and change.
