Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I have been licensed as an MFT since 1986 and in the field for over 30 years. I work primarily with individuals, couples, and older teens. I have a great deal of experience & specialized training in working with couples, teenagers & families. I am very practical in my approach, and I will “talk back” to clients! When clients are interested, I introduce them to the Enneagram, a powerful personality typology that is extremely useful & can help clients quickly identify their patterns and how to work with them. My roles as a therapist includes deep listening, bearing witness, guidance, feedback, and gentle encouragement in the direction of self-awareness. I believe that a good dose of humor aids in change, but ultimately my clients create change at their own pace. My hope is that my clients find ways to become more fully who they are, taking full responsibility for their lives and creating positive relationships both personally and professionally.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
